Founder Story: Jehan-Ara Poonawala
Raised in a home where order met sensitivity, Jehan-Ara learned that beauty often resides in the smallest, quietest details. This upbringing shaped a rare duality in her design approach - the discipline of structure balanced with the warmth of empathy, the precision of process softened by the soul of intuition. Her practice was born from a quiet refusal to follow the noise: the noise of spectacle for spectacle’s sake, of scale without purpose, and of speed that sacrifices meaning. Since founding JJ Poonawala in 1999, Jehan-Ara has remained an active presence in every project - from the very first conversation to the very last detail. She believes in designing with restraint, empathy, and longevity, creating spaces that may never call attention to themselves, yet whose absence would be deeply felt.

Ours is a studio built on thoughtfulness, craft, and human connection. We work across Residential, Hospitality, and Commercial spaces, guided not by fleeting trends, but by the enduring principles of empathy, integrity, and timelessness.
