How To Design A Multi-Purpose Bedroom

After spending months locked up at home, everyone’s game for a little makeover! But this time round, we’ve got to switch it up a little. Gaining from our experiences is the smartest way to improve our surroundings, so let’s make sure that our days of being holed up don’t go to waste! It’s time to make our spaces versatile, so they can be used to the fullest potential. Here are our views on the ideal elements to remember while designing a multi-purpose room this season.

Stock Up

Individual pieces of furniture that carry storage space within them are definitely underrated. There are usually things that you want around but don’t use everyday, and creating corners piled up with all of it is a no-no, especially in smaller areas. Hence, source yourself some pieces that allow for dynamic storage. Some units you can consider are a centre table flush with a storage rack, or square storage cubes that can double up as stools. And if you’re one who likes to keep it clean with a no-hoarding policy, even better! Invest in expandable tables and sideboards with printed tops like a chess board or a ludo print, so you can have the best of both worlds!

Layer It

Objects covered in objects is a great go-to when redesigning for a multi-functional space. A pull-out sofa that converts your work space to a guest bedroom when needed maximises the utility of the area you have. If not, transform your lounge into a living room with modular seating, allowing you to freely move around individual pieces to create a scattered seating arrangement for when you want to split up the space!

Divide and Conquer

If you’re working with a slightly broader room and don’t want it to all look like one big empty plot, cut it out! There are a couple of ways you can segregate spaces according to activities, and one of the simplest ones is to add a divider. Sliding or folding doors take up very little space by themself, and they make for great sleek barriers. Working from home and don’t want your gym to be seen as your background? This is a perfect fix! Another effective method to disconnect areas is to use colour blocks. Use a distinctly different shade on every zone, and you won’t be lost again!

Get Cornered

Instead of leaving corners empty or completely blocking them, free them up! Add a desk, chair, and a few small planters, and you’ve got a work from home office! Having an entire room to reform into a work space can be a struggle, so we’ve got you. To make it even more compact, aesthetic and adaptable, give a shot at a closet desk, that opens up to your office abode, and can be turned down by dusk to be a part of your common area!

Rise Above

Bunk beds, a traditional way to save copious amounts of room are still a favourite in many households, but can get a little claustrophobic. Sticking to your roots and relaying the same principle of the old technique, add a slight twist to make a big difference to the way you or your children sleep. Stack your bunk bed perpendicularly, and you’ll have a lot more air to breathe, without looking up at a bed!

Merge Cells

Balconies and terraces excite us at first, but over time tend to become cocoons that are accessed only when people are over. Well, 2021’s got no room for that! Move outdoors for some fresh air, recasting your balcony to be an open-air gym, or your terrace to be a luxurious home office! We’re sure the end result will be work goals!

Entirely metamorphose your room with all these tricks, and you’ll have a space to serve all your needs, from a gym to a home office to a living room, all in one!
